Health and Wellness

Promoting Prevention, Early Detection, and Access to Care

Project Butterfly’s Community Health & Wellness Initiative is committed to improving access to basic health screenings, promoting preventive care, and connecting individuals and families with appropriate healthcare resources. Led by a registered nurse who serves on our Board of Directors, this initiative focuses on helping community members better understand their health and recognize when additional medical attention may be needed.

We believe that access to health information and early screening can make a meaningful difference in a person’s quality of life. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can go undetected for extended periods, particularly when individuals face barriers to routine healthcare. Through community-based health screenings and education, Project Butterfly seeks to help participants become more informed about their health and better prepared to seek appropriate medical care.

Health Screenings & Wellness Checks

Through our health outreach efforts, Project Butterfly provides basic health checks designed to give participants useful information about their current health indicators. Screenings may include:

  • Blood Pressure Monitoring: Helping participants identify elevated blood pressure readings that may require follow-up with a healthcare professional.
  • Blood Glucose Monitoring: Providing blood sugar readings that may indicate a need for further evaluation for diabetes or other blood glucose concerns.
  • Height and Weight Measurements: Collecting basic measurements that can help inform conversations about overall health and wellness.
  • Blood Oxygen Monitoring: Measuring oxygen saturation to help identify readings that may warrant further assessment.

These screenings provide an opportunity for individuals to learn more about their health and recognize when it may be appropriate to seek additional evaluation. Screening results are not intended to replace a medical examination, establish a diagnosis, or substitute for ongoing care from a licensed healthcare provider.

Addressing Health Disparities in Our Communities

Our commitment extends beyond conducting screenings. Project Butterfly is working to strengthen the way participants receive and use their health information.

Our goal is to provide participants with their screening results and information they can bring to a healthcare appointment, helping them prepare questions and communicate more effectively with their doctors. When results or symptoms suggest that further evaluation may be needed, we aim to help connect individuals with appropriate healthcare providers and community resources.

These connections may be particularly valuable for people who need further assessment, ongoing management of a chronic condition, or a conversation with a healthcare professional about possible treatment and medication.

Project Butterfly does not replace a primary care provider or prescribe treatment through its community screening initiative. Instead, we serve as a bridge between community members and the healthcare services they may need.

Our Vision for Community Wellness

Project Butterfly envisions a community where individuals have greater opportunities to understand their health, access preventive resources, and seek medical attention before manageable concerns become more serious.

Through the leadership of our registered nurse, community partnerships, health education, and continued development of referral resources, we are working to make basic health information and connections to care more accessible.

Project Butterfly

Caring for the community, one life at a time.

Our mission is to help individuals take the next step toward better health—one screening, one conversation, and one connection at a time.
